Sally, Hi Lori, It has been a while since I have written. I have been struggling with family problems, work issues and that does not help with the diet motivation. I did manage to lose 4 more pounds but it has taken a good month. I hope things have been going well with you and you are happy and having success with your goal. Summer is over and it is wet and rainy here and I actually am ready for the change. I dont get out in the yard and burn many calories though. Christmas is soon and that is always a hard time for me. I am feeling better though and hope that that is enough to keep me going throughout the fudge and cookie season. Keep on keeping on and be happy!! Lisa

Hi Sally, Yeah, a garden would not last long in the heat for sure. Here in the Pacific NW where the summers are probably pretty mild to you we still have to tend the garden daily. It is great reward however. By the end of August I am getting a bit worn out with it though. It has been raining, windy and in the 60's for the last 3 or 4 days here. How about where you are? I can understand how it is difficult to eat right with your long hours and being away from home. I have recently discovered Hummus and eat it with lots of fresh veggies. It keeps well on ice in my lunchbag and has some nutritional value too. I used to snack on pretzels because of no fat but there is nothing nutritional about them at all. Of course fruit is always good but it sounds like you have that one covered. I actually like the healthy foods more than fast food but it is the convenience of it that draws us all in. I used to think that because I do not eat beef and ordered a chicken sandwich rather than a burger I was eating healthier, not true most time. I had a good week this week, I lost 10 pounds. Yipee! As I told my hubby, my second set of boobs (that roll underneath) is going away first. HAHA! I really did not count cals or fat or anything. It is just amazing how cutting out the wine and just being aware of what I am eating makes a difference. As I lose more I will have to be more diligent with keeping track. Your idea with the beach wall is awesome, I love it! I tried the pics of the bikini clad girl on the frig and the only ones that even benefited from that was my sons. I just tuned it out after the first day. For now I am just doing a little walking. Until I get some more weight off I need to be careful with my problematic knees. another good reason to shed the pounds. Well, you have a great day and keep thinking SWIMSUIT! Lisa

Hi Lisa,
We use to have a garden, Bobby kept it up and I helped, with traveling for work I had to drop the vegetable part of the garden. Gets very hot here in texas and I am gone some times for two weeks, seems the plants want water. I have been good so far this week in not eating anything but fruit after 7PM, I would eat dinner at 9 or 10 at night. Though soon will be coming up a out of town trip and they are the hardest because my day can go from 8 in the morning to 2 or 3 in the morning. I find fast food places are opened at the late hours and there is some silly law about driving with blinders on, so I guess I will have to use some willpower. I started tracking what I eat each day, so I try to keep a list I will not feel bad about the next morning. I just repapered a wall in my computer room to a beach scene, and adding my walking machine in here, the beach is to remind me to get a bathing suit body again...And BTW, I can be gabby too. Stay safe, eat lite, sally

Sally, You are off to a great start! Sorry about the loss of your husband. I cannot imagine life without mine. I know what you mean though, I am very overweight and he acts like he doesn't even notice. You would think I was a model. I work at a grade school and the tempations to eat junk is constant. In the staff room everyday plus I supervise breakfast and the leftovers are free game, not to mention cupcakes and cookies and candy that the kids bring. It's no wonder our kids are overweight more and more these days. I do pretty good at home. We have a veggie garden and that really helps with the healthiness of our meals and the budget as we are low income. We just got some laying hens so that will be nice too. Fresh eggs right in my backyard. Well, as you probably figured out I can get a bit gabby now and then. Keep up the good work, take it day by day and KNOW that you can and will do it!! I tell myself that often. Nice to have you as a new friend. Lisa
