Main Goal

Besides loosing weight, my main goal is to FEEL GOOD! I want execise to be a regular part of my daily routine, eatting foods that are good for my body.... of course I can't think of a better motivater than seeing the numbers drop off the scale but I really look forward to feeling better. My other goal is to stop smoking, it's tough having two things that I'm addicted to... it's getting to the point where both are really starting to determine my quaility of life, which is much lower than what I would consider acceptable. I'm a great person and I deserve a lot better than how I've been treating myself. I will also be starting the patch, stop smoking aid along with my diet, my ultimate goal is to become a non-smoker.

The very ultimate goal is to run a marathon!

About Me

I'm young and tired of feeling old.
I've tried and failed at almost any "diet" imaginable and I'm looking to make a change that will allow me to live healthy. I'm successful at a lot of things in my life, but for whatever reason weight has always been an issue for me. I'm hoping this web site will help motivate me, by finding people who are going through the same struggles as me. I'm looking forward to a little healthy competition.

Hello! I just wanted to check up on you and see how your week was going. It's Friday, and BOY AM I GLAD!! It's been a rough week, but I've been *pretty* good about getting a decent workout in every day. How's that running going?

Hey Shelly! Week 2 of the training! Hmmm, sorry this took me a few days to get back to you....we bought a new car, sold our old one...been busy! Advice I can give you??? Get good shoes (2 pair) Switch em' out every other day! Stretch and soak your muscles 3x a week in epsom salt. I don't know how rigorous your training will be? Ours starts out week one (15 miles) Week 2 (16 miles)Week 5 is 21 miles total....and so on for 16 weeks! Pretty extreme! Surprisingly my husband and I haven't been sore or hurt at all yet. We've soak in baths and switch our shoes out, LOT's of hydration! Run the first 15 minutes of your run at a comfortable cardio pace for you! Otherwise if you start out too fast it could devistate your whole run! Breathe in through your nose, out through pursed lips of the mouth! Not sure what shoes you purchased (we have brooks and new balance specialized shoes for our feet(arches and run pattern), they can test your feet at a local run shop!

Hope this helps...as we get further along I'll let you know what blocks I hit!

how exciting that we're both training for marathons! I joined Team in Training and they offer coaches to help us train. my race is in oct. I run about 4 times a week and take a strength/cardio class at a gym twice a week also i am doing pilates and yoga because it helps a lot when you are endurance training like this. what kind of training are you doing?

Thanks for checking on me. I haven't been on the site much lately, was away for the long weekend. I had to go to a family reunion so it was hard not knowing what food was going to be there. I gained a little but only a day later and I'm already 1/2 way back down. How are you doing? What kind of plan do you follow? Excercise? I've been lacking in the excercise but plan to walk the plank (treadmill - ha, ha) tonight.

Great job on committing to the marathon next year! (And now you've told US about it, so we can harrass you if you fall off training, too!)
Just make sure that before you try running in your new shoes, you spend a day or so walking around in them to "break them in;" otherwise, horrific blisters await your poor feet. (I used to do a lot of running and learned the hard way!!)

I wouldn't worry about doing too much distance quite yet, anyway - what's most important is that you body adjusts to the new exercise. Good job, keep up the motivation and hard work!!

Thanks for the friendship and support. =)
I cannot imagine having your job and attempting to lose weight -- I gained all my weight over the past 2 years WITHOUT that kind of added temptation!

Small steps are definitely the way to go - good job on trading in the soda for water!! I've been trying to fight my sweet tooth cravings a few days at a time and am bribing myself with an ice cream tomorrow if I make it (I haven't had any sweets since Sunday). I did find that "Bonkers Ultimate Chai" tea helps to tame down the "MUST HAVE SUGAR" feeling that I get in the evenings. (It's supposedly a "slimming" tea...I have my doubts about that, but it tastes really good and does help me control my cravings!) It doesn't contain senna or any of those other scary components that I've read scary news articles on, so I definitely think it's worth it!

Good luck with everything - if we take it one day at a time, we can make it together!!

Thanks for your post! I did drink a lot of the lemonade mixture, and it worked very well for me! I will definitely do this cleanse again, once I finish eating clean for 30 days and using the product Colonix. My weight loss from the cleanse has stayed off so far, and I am down a size in clothing already -- so I am thrilled. It does take a LOT of discipline, for sure.
