Main Goal

I want to lose 20lbs by Thanksgiving 2008 so I don't have to be embarrassed when I go to see my family. My ultimate weight goal is to be 110 lbs. by the end of my weight loss journey. As of today, 08/19/08, I am 143.6. Yikes!

About Me

I am 33 yrs old and have really been struggling with my weight for over 2 years now. My mom was sick with breast cancer & eventually died last year. Then my maternal grandmother, who was like my own mom, died 6 months later. I started smoking heavily then tried to quit with a non-smoking pill. That really packed on the pounds. I have gained 20lbs just in the past year and probably another 15-20lbs the year before that. I am afraid of getting diabetes. I want to be healthy and beautiful again. My profile pic shows me when I was skinny. Now I look hideous in pics. I am a very positive, outgoing, & happy person except when it comes to my weight which is extremely frustrating. It's booty camp time.

Andrea, It has been a while since I have written. I have been struggling with family problems, work issues and that does not help with the diet motivation. I did manage to lose 4 more pounds but it has taken a good month. I hope things have been going well with you and you are happy and having success with your goal. Summer is over and it is wet and rainy here and I actually am ready for the change. I dont get out in the yard and burn many calories though. Christmas is soon and that is always a hard time for me. I am feeling better though and hope that that is enough to keep me going throughout the fudge and cookie season. Keep on keeping on and be happy!! Lisa

Andrea, It looks like you are doing well and lost some weight. Good Job! I lost 10 pounds this week and am very happy. I know though that I always lose it fairly fast at first, water, etc. So I will really have to buckle down. I did cut out the wine and was aware of what as I was eating and I really thought about wether I was full or not and I get fuller faster than I thought. I spend a lot of my free time at the computer because I sell on Ebay, I love this site and I spend time surfing the net. The weather has been cool, wet and windy the last 3 or 4 days so it is an easy excuse to sit here. Well, I guess that is my que....I am going to get up and at least clean up my house and do my laundry. You keep up the good work and have a great day!

Hi,
I am new here too, you are about my daughter's age. I can not talk to her about losing wieght unless I do so myself. Plus I feel so much older then I should and it's all becuase of the wieght I am sure. When my husband was aline he always said he loved me the way I was. but it has been two years now since I lost him and need to take care of my health better so I keep up with the grandkids better. you live in Austin I see, they have some pretty parks down there to walk in. I am adding a treadmill into the house so I do not have to face the heat.
congrads on the 2 pound lost.... Sally

Hey there Andrea, welcome! I have only been on here about a week, but we're all working hard to reach our goals. You'll see that I am working with some of my good girlfriends to get healthy and look great. Let me know if you need motivating, I know that it gets tough. Remember, we all hit slumps, we just have to take each day for what it is...a new day, a fresh start, a day to begin again if we slip up.

Hi, and welcome to the site. I am new to this site also and have made a few friends already. Being older than you I can attest to the fact that the older you get the easier it is to put on the pounds and the harder it is to take them off. And the time goes by so fast that before you know it...whoa! I have at least 75 pounds to lose which is scary! You are smart for getting serious about this while you are younger. I can relate to the loss of your mother and grandmother. I lost my mom nearly 20 years ago, my dad 4 years ago and my father in law in march. The emotions can derail your best laid healthy eating plans if you are not careful. I just keep thinking how proud my mom and dad will be when I get off this weight. I have been doing fair this summer with all the fresh veggies we grow in our garden but I work at a school and school starts soon. There is always munchies around at work, cookies, candy and pie, oh my! Do you have those sort of temptations in your work place? I will warn I can get gabby from time to time, so be warned. HaHa!You have lost 2 pounds already and that is a good start. Let's get losing together and make our moms proud! Have a great and healthy day! Lisa
